SINGAPORE – The Day Activity Center at the Society for the Physically Disabled (SPD) serves 58 individuals with disabilities. Despite being understaffed, the center’s six training officers work together to care and train their clients to improve their independence. Susan Teo, center manager talks about the purpose of the center and the challenges faced in recruiting and retaining staff. The job of a training officer is both physically and emotionally demanding. Maria Vanessa Pasah, a training officer with the center for the past six years, shares her secret in enjoying her work.
